Terre Ve or Terre Don't? My first Brick article of the year!

Terra Ve Reopens to Bustling Crowds and Mixed Reviews
Submitted by Jamie Wollberg

After an 18-month hiatus, Purchase College’s most vegetarian-friendly eatery, Terra Ve, has reopened for the fall semester. With some renovations on display both in and outside the building, students returned to the facility on Monday to see if the wait was worth it.

“We made it bigger on the inside, and widened the serving area,” Senior Director of Dining Services Nick Mennillo said. “It’s twice as large, and we also pushed it back on the inside to create more space.”

Mennillo said he was excited about the reopening and proud of the most visual changes, such as a new floor, an outdoor patio, and modern lights. The front vestibule, he said, is one of the final pieces still being built, and will be worked on throughout the semester until its completion.

As students poured in and out during peak dining hours on Monday, some said the infamous issue of long lines has seemingly not yet been resolved. Molly Murphy, a student at the college, said that she waited in line for nearly a half-hour for her favorite items.

“Right now everyone wants to see it because they hear that it’s finally open,” Mennillo said. “It’s going to take some time to get things organized, and then the lines will shorten naturally over time.”

But most confusion surrounded Terra Ve’s meal schedule. Unlike before it had become closed for renovations, the eatery will not be open during breakfast, as its operating hours have changed.

As for the food, Mennillo said the menu has changed to some degree. He said Chartwells will be implementing new items throughout the year and experimenting as to which are the most successful.

Despite the occasional negative feedback, some students said they were still content with Terra Ve’s return. Chloe Zetkov, a new student, said it was a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

“The outside seating area looks friendly, and the umbrella tables are classy,” Murphy said. “I’m really looking forward to the front doors being completed.”
