For The Brick’s first formal event of the year, the online newspaper revealed its new and official sandwich that can be ordered, and devoured, at The Hub.
The mouth-watering sandwich tastes great toasted, and can be made on either a roll, or a spinach wrap. The ingredients inside the creation are breaded chicken cutlet, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, honey mustard, olive oil, and vinegar.
Senior Director of Dining Services Nick Mennillo said he was incredibly supportive of the sandwich.
“The Brick is really solid, and a group of students who do a great job,” he said. “This is a good idea.”
Mennillo said that student organizations often have ideas about doing things in partnership with Chartwells, but generally don’t follow through.
As for sales, Mennillo said the sandwich was selling at the same rate as their bologna sandwiches, which in his eyes, he said, isn’t bad.
“It’s peaking interest,” he said. “People don’t know what it is so they are trying it out.”
Junior acting major, Waymon Arnette was one of the first to try the sandwich at its debut. “It’s good, it’s really good,” he said. “The vinegar gives a little extra tang to it, but it’s great.”
Another junior acting major, Marcus Callender, said he would buy the sandwich again if he were in the mood for chicken. “I was so hungry, and when I bit into it, I noticed how tasty it was,” he said.
Ashley Kelly, an undeclared junior, said she loved the sandwich and highly recommends it to other students.
“It’s really good. I really like the cheese, but overall enjoy the way the whole sandwich tastes,” said Kelly with a mouth full. “It’s awesome.”
