The Westchester Mall, located in downtown White Plains, offers surprisingly affordable food options in contrast to its upscale clothing stores. At the food court, there are many ways to indulge at a reasonable price.

The space is just large enough to fit a diverse group of eateries in the area. The choices are a small Ben and Jerry’s, Grillicious, Famous Famiglia Pizza, Baby Yogurt, Desert Moon Café, Charley’s, Master Wok, and a Mini Melts Machine.

There are dozens of tables spread out in the center of the room, so when the mall is at its busiest hungry shoppers have a place to sit. The tables are dark green with a black lining, and are accompanied by metal chairs with green leaved seat cushions.

To entertain guests, 12 large flat-screen televisions display the latest music videos to the entire food court.

The well-known Au Bon Pain serves more than just bread, as its name implies. The bakery and café offers rice bowls for $6.99, numerous wraps that range from $5.69 to $6.19, such as the soft and filling grilled Chicken Cesar Asiago Wrap, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries.

Their most flavorful sandwich happens to be the $6.49 chicken pesto, which is spread on rosemary Focaccia bread and accented with basil pesto.

Next is Grillicious, where one can order burgers and other grilled foods. There is also Master Wok, which is a mediocre place for fans of Asian cuisine. They have a fantastic value meal for only $5.99 that includes two main dishes and a side of vegetables or white rice.

Some tasty choices are the slightly sweet barbeque chicken, and the dark orange sweet and sour chicken with white rice. The flavorful chicken makes up for the slightly dry rice.

For those craving something different, Desert Moon Café serves salads and inexpensive quesadillas for less than seven dollars. A Philly cheese steak from Charley’s is yet another option.

The last stop on the food court tour is Baby Yogurt. Patrons are lucky because this is the only Baby Yogurt in the United States. Bubble Tea is available for fewer than six dollars, as well as basic flavors of frozen yogurt with plentiful toppings.

For those who are unfamiliar with the frozen beverage, bubble tea has a consistency similar to that of a milkshake. The drink has either a jelly or a ball of tapioca floating around inside.

The flavors are green tea, milk tea, taro, red bean, cappuccino, blueberry, honeydew, coconut, almond and mango. Their mango flavored bubble tea has an authentic taste, and the black tapioca pearls add a chewy affect.

After reviewing this meal, it is evident that there is something to please almost every shopper that strolls by.
