Hibachi restaurant Noda has earned its spot on White Plains Hamilton Avenue, largely thanks to their well-trained chefs, fresh sushi, and easy-on-the-wallet prices.

The outside windows don’t do the restaurant justice. Noda's interior brings the ancient Asian culture to life, with old pictures hung on red and white walls. The beams separating the sections are a dark brown with square paper lanterns that give off a tranquil light. Fish tanks grace the front of the eatery, and there are bamboo screens selectively placed throughout.

The space itself is broken up into three sections consisting of a drink bar, a sushi bar, and the hibachi tables that take up most of the room. The black granite tables fit up to eight people, meaning that patrons without a big party are most likely not going to be seated privately.

Noda's main courses consist of chicken, shrimp, steak, and vegetarian, with a few other options. These cost anywhere from $13 to $27, depending on the meal. Prices may seem steep, but meals include a soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, and rice.

The soup had some sort of silky, chicken broth with thinly sliced shitake mushrooms and scallions floating in it. It was slightly over-salted, but heart warming – the perfect antidote to the Fall chill.

Salads can be a little much with such filling entrées, but they're still a crispy, delicious side option. Topped with shredded carrots and mustard dressing, they were worth every bite.

Noda has some of the best sushi in the area, including their Alaskan roll, perfect for the sushi enthusiast.

Even after all the food already consumed, the chef then pulls some tricks out of his hat to further excite consumers' palates, before he places the vegetables, bean sprouts, and the main dish onto rustic clay plates. The chicken had a slight sweetness and was slightly tough, but the shrimp was grilled to perfection.

Another positive to the restaurant is the lack of pressure to finish up and leave, despite how quickly the food is prepared.

With satisfying dishes prepared in an exciting manner, Noda is a perfect blend of dining and entertainment.
